St. Rita’s Medical Center – Infrastructure Improvements
Owner: St. Rita’s Medical Center for the City of Lima
Construction Cost: NA
Project included the installation of 1,570 feet of 24” waterline and 1,270 feet of 36” combined sewer due to the relocation of existing water and sewer lines to allow for the construction of a new wing of St. Rita’s Medical Center. There were no valves on the existing circa 1900 24” cast iron water main so two 24” by 24” hot taps and two 24” line stops with thrust blocking were needed. During the installation of the sewer, portions of which were over 30 feet deep in one of Lima’s busiest streets, they found railroad ties from a trolley line that ran in Lima during the first quarter of the Twentieth Century.
