Extension of Blue Jacket Court, New Roadway Design
Owner: Shawnee Township Trustees, Allen County, Ohio
Construction Cost: $925,000
Construction of a new 0.47 mile section of Blue Jacket Court from Zurmehly Road to Fort Amanda Road to accommodate future development and access to existing businesses. Since this was an entirely new road, a street dedication plat was developed and coordinated with various agencies. The new 2-lane pavement featured curb and gutters, new storm sewers and an extension of a waterline. A 10’ wide bike path was also designed on the east side of the road to provide an eventual connection between an existing bike path and area businesses. Roadway and bike path lighting was designed on the east side of the road by a sub-consultant.
- Determination of the new roadway alignment through an already developed area, based on topographic survey field measurements and LIDAR information
- Preparation of the several land acquisition descriptions that were needed for the project, plus development of the street dedication plat
- Coordination with an adjacent project and consultant to make sure the Blue Jacket Court / Fort Amanda Road intersection geometry and details were compatible
